When I was 18 years old, I participated in my first physique competition. Yes, some would say this is a silly, self-centered and strange extracurricular activity for a high school senior. Nevertheless, I was fascinated with manipulating nutrition to change the body.
The protocol for leaning out as quickly as possible was effective, but drained by energy levels, ruined my sleep, and hurt my overall quality of life. And of course, the nutritional prescription focused solely on carbohydrate manipulation.
Now, I didn’t know this then, but there’s a little-known (and slightly controversial) nutrition strategy that helps you melt off fat, improve your overall health, and boost your cognitive performance. And it has nothing to do with carbohydrates and everything to do with the F-word: Fat.
